James Lawrence Hilgers

James Lawrence Hilgers, age 75, of Waconia passed away Thursday, April 17, 2013 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Mass of Christian Burial held Saturday April 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (41 1st St. E), Waconia with Father Bennet Tran as Celebrant of the Mass; Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home (141 1st. St. E.), Waconia and Saturday one hour prior to the Mass at the church; Interment St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
James Lawrence Hilgers was born on Jan. 8, 1938 in Waconia, Minn., the son of Joseph and Hedwig (Vanderlinde) Hilgers. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia. On Nov. 26, 1960, James was united in marriage to June M. Goetz at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia by Father Joseph Kauer.
Jim was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and always loved being around his grandchildren. Jim honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 – 1960, and was a member of the Waconia America Legion. Jim was a milk trucker for 45 years and was the owner of Hilger’s Milk Transport. He also drove for Water’s Edge. Jim and June loved to winter vacation in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., where Jim was a member of the Elk’s Lodge. Jim loved to dance and have coffee with his fellow buddies every day.
James is preceded in death his parents Joe and Hattie Hilgers; brother Bobby Hilgers; father-in-law and mother-in-law Rueben and Verna Goetz.
Jim is survived by his loving family; wife June; children and spouses, Joel Hilgers of Cologne, Judie and Steve Kuenzel of Mayer, Jill and Tony Widmer of Norwood Young America, Jason Hilgers of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Justin and Krissy Hilgers of Waconia; grandchildren, Abby and Mike Sultvedt, Megan and Peter Arneson, Steph Kuenzel, Brittany, Jay, Maddy, and Jack Widmer, Nathan and Mitchell Hilgers; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Georgian Hilgers of Waconia, Dan and Sue Hilgers of Belle Plaine; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jean and Dick Kelzer of Waconia, Jim and Dolly Goetz of Waconia; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Casket Bearers are Jim’s Grandchildren.
