LuVerne M. Spagenske, age 78, of Maple Plain, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013. She was born Dec. 8, 1934, to George and Gladys (Lawrence) Smith in Washington Lake Township, Minnesota.
LuVerne was united in marriage on Nov. 5, 1952, to Richard Michael Spagenske.
LuVerne worked as a waitress in the early years, and eventually going on to Gage Marketing where she was employed until 2000. She enjoyed going to church to help on the annual sales and donations. Working with the other church members doing ironing, sewing and enjoying each other’s company. LuVerne and Richard enjoyed traveling, camping and annual visits to Las Vegas. Time spent with their family was a priority.
LuVerne was preceded in death by her husband Richard; brother Orlen Smith; sister Shirley Borne; sister-in-law Carol Smith; brother-in-law Wally Witt, Gerald Spagenske.
She is survived by her children Mike (Carol) Spagenske, Roger (Becky) Spagenske, Patricia Spagenske; granddaughter Celena; 4 step-grandchildren: Chris, Kyle, Ron and Sara; 10 great grandchildren; siblings Dale Smith, Gerry Witt and Lois Busch-Hartman; as well as many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 27, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Maple Plain. Visitation was on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continued 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Rev. David Garwick officiated at the services, with interment in the church cemetery.
